Wednesdsay Prayers: For New Endeavors

Dave starts a new job next week-- it'll be his first time as a new kid in 13 years. That's a big day.

One friend has just started an organization devoted to helping adults connect to the teens in their lives. It's a new venture, but her passion for its purpose has been around for a long time.

Another friend has an interview tomorrow-- praying that it goes well, and that both she and the foundation discern clearly whether they fit together.

Still another friend has begun dating after a long relationship has ended.

I'm thinking of the courage and hope required in each beginning that anyone undertakes, and about the magical possibilities when we take our first steps into a new phase. As I pray for them, I keep thinking of the hymn, "God of Grace and God of Glory." So this week, it's my prayer:

From the fears that long have bound us,
Free our hearts to faith and praise.
Grant us wisdom, grant us courage,
For the living of these days,
For the living of these days.
-H.E. Fosdick
How about you all? Any newness I can pray for? Any longing for newness?

  2. Perfect timing, Di! I just found a third person who is committed to trying out a spiritual direction group...new format for me to receive, and give, that ministry. We are hoping for a fourth, and I have a call in to a prospect, but not sure what that result will be--nor, if she is not interested, whether we should try with three to start or keep looking. So clear discernment for everyone about membership as well as when and how to move forward with our actual meetings is a new ventures intention I am very grateful for prayer support on!

Thanks for posting the link to your friend's site--always a good thing to have more resources on. And best of luck to your sweetie!

"So keep fightin' for freedom and justice, beloveds, but don't you forget to have fun doin' it. Lord, let your laughter ring forth. Be outrageous, ridicule the fraidy-cats, rejoice in all the oddities that freedom can produce. And when you get through kickin' ass and celebratin' the sheer joy of a good fight, be sure to tell those who come after how much fun it was."
-Saint Molly Ivins
